The U.K.-based provider of payment and fraud prevention solutions for call centers won the Judges Choice Award for Best Call Center Solution and Customer Choice Awards for Best International CNP Program and Best PCI Compliance Provider.

Born from necessity in 2009, Semafone was created to protect and remove sensitive credit and debit cards in call centers. Using patented technology, the company securely captures personally identifiable information including credit and debit card data, Social Security numbers, etc., taken by the contact center, helping improve customer service and security simultaneously. Semafone reduces the scope of the card data environment (CDE) immediately upon implementation, bringing call centers PCI compliance without requiring burdensome controls like the need to establish “clean rooms” that negatively impact employee morale.

Semafone says it has increased annual revenues by 38 percent by providing a solution for call centers looking to quickly reduce their risk without interrupting customer service. The company has also doubled its North American business, opening a new headquarters in Boston just last month.

In the past year, a partnership deal signed with AsiaPay enabled Semafone to secure telephone payments in the Asia Pacific region. At a large North American cellular and communications company, the Semafone solution was successfully deployed in the call center and made such an immediate impact that the company deployed Semafone as a payment gateway proxy for the company’s entire CDE, according to Semafone.
