With billions of cards in circulation globally, Visa’s rules around chargebacks are closely watched by merchants. The company recently announced new rules for CNP fraud chargeback representment and avoidance will be going into effect in April 2023—its biggest change to the program since 2013. The new rules promise big differences around timelines and what kind of evidence merchants can use to fight chargebacks. Chargeback expert Karisse Hendrick will outline what Visa has told merchants so far about the changes, what she’s hearing from merchants and other chargeback pros (both positive and negative) and what can be done now to prepare for the new rules.
