PayPal Taps Home Depot for POS Pilot
Jan. 9, 2012
Just days after PayPal lost its president to Yahoo, the
online payment arm of eBay Inc. said it has lined up a major retailer to pilot
the POS portion of its “future shopping experience.” The company, which has
been showcasing its integrated shopping solution in a Manhattan storefront for
media and retailers, confirmed that Home Depot is the first merchant to test
the POS part of the mobile/online/in-store shopping experience. “PayPal has
always been about connecting retailers with their customers by helping them
integrate a faster, more targeted and more flexible shopping experience across
channels,” Anuj Nayar, PayPal’s director of communications, said in a post on
the company’s official blog. “It’s true that The Home Depot is the first
retailer to roll out a limited pilot program for our new POS technologies. The
Home Depot pilot is currently being run in five stores and involves a small
number of PayPal employees.”
