Braintree Expanding in Chicago

Aug. 7, 2012

Chicago-based online gateway provider Braintree Payments held a Windy City shindig with hometown mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to celebrate the company’s new downtown office and expansion plans that call for Braintree’s headcount to more than double over the next few years.

The company told the Chicago Tribune it is adding 100 merchant clients per month and would hire 150 employees to work at the new facility, 40 of which it plans to add before the end of this year.

“We’re staffing up quickly to meet the exploding market demand for our online and mobile payments tools,” said Bill Ready, CEO of Braintree. “Braintree’s full-stack payment platform was designed specifically to make payment integration easy for developers. That is why we’re attracting the nation’s top developers to use and build our products.”
